MOMvocate Individualized Plan

How can a MOMvocate assist you?

There are important matters that only a MOMvocate can assist with. A MOMvocate is a parent, family member, caregiver, or guardian who publicly supports and advocates for the rights of individuals of all abilities with the ultimate goal of making inclusion a reality. Our MOMvocate Individualized Plan (MIP) is based on three pillars:

Pillar 1: Management of Life

Among our three pillars, Managing life comes first. When you’re raising a child, particularly with a disability, you must prioritize. Unfortunately, things will not fall in place unless you make the commitment to make it happen. Until you create systems such as routines and schedules, life can become frustrating.

Pillar 2: Organization

Organizing creates predictability, sustainability, and responsibility. It is more than keeping things in place! You must keep schedules, your child’s medical records, along your communication with medical professionals organized in order to improve efficiency. Too many structured tasks can become daunting for anyone! Mixing in structured activities, family time, breaks, appointments, and more is helpful as it creates a holistic approach.

Pillar 3: Mentoring of Parents/Consultations

When parents engage in mentorship, they learn strategies, tips, and best practices that are proven to create effective results. MOM empowers parents and provides them with the tools to support their child(ren) and enhance their quality of life. Coaching sessions are conveniently offered through webinars and virtual meetings so that you can connect from the comfort of your home.

As parents, we are concerned about everything our child(ren) needs to sustain a balanced lifestyle, develop and maintain a balanced lifestyle. MOM SNS focuses on four main areas to support our clients through our time together:

Nutrition

Feeding our child(ren) comes with the role of being a parent. As we search for ways to enhance the quality of life of our families, a healthy and allergy-free diet becomes a priority. MOM will provide you with all of the tools in taking a step towards allergy-friendly cooking and healthy eating.
Based on your child’s diagnosis, diet is one component that may play a major role in your child’s functioning, and it can be modified quite easily.

Parent Education

Parenting is a full-time job. For parents of children with learning, social-emotional, attention, or behavioral needs, there are additional opportunities to consider when providing care. It could be as essential as engaging with your child(ren) at home, to facilitating friendships/helping your child build social skills, providing them with accommodations such as visuals during the course of their day, or coordinating with
with school and providers to provide the best care for your child. MOM is here to offer you support in all areas of your role and responsibility as a parent. Through parent education, we will also teach you effective strategies to manage your child’s tantrums and distractions within the home. We explore opportunities for you to enhance the life of your child(ren) in development, therapeutic services, and home services to further support your family.

Therapeutic Services

Over the course of your child's lifespan, you will have encounters with a variety of doctors, specialists, and therapists to help with your child’s development. However, not all services are created equal. Finding the perfect match for your family can become a journey within itself. In addition, managing the number of appointments and tracking everything can be an overwhelming process!
MOM has formulated easy strategies for parents to follow, manage, accommodate their personal schedule, child’s appointments, and other life priorities. MOM will help facilitate your journey through personal experience and expertise by following a proven path that works.
These initiatives are foundational to the services we offer in order to help families advocate for their children's education, achieve developmental milestones, enhance family lifestyle and grow their child’s learning potential.

School Advocacy

When it comes to your child, you are an expert, and you are your child’s most powerful advocate. At times, parents need additional assistance for their child to receive the services and support they require in schools. Children with disabilities and complex medical care need to get the right public education.
This includes special education services through the use of an IEP, 504, Functional Behavioral Plan, or any other school accommodations they need.
There are times, the whole process of working with schools may become overwhelming, and this is why MOM is here to help! We will walk with you each step of the process to help you understand the concepts of how your child can be best prepared for further education, employment, and independent living.
